Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between TriviaBot.tv ("TriviaBot", "we", "us") and the business that subscribes to TriviaBot ("you", "your venue"). By creating an account, pairing a screen, or paying a subscription, you agree to them.

1. The service

TriviaBot is a continuously running trivia channel for a physical venue. It displays questions on screens you pair to your account, and guests in your venue may play along on their own phones by scanning a QR code shown on the screen. You provide the screens, the internet connection, and the venue.

2. Your account

Accounts are created and accessed by emailed sign-in link. There is no password. Anyone with access to your email inbox can sign in as you, so keep it secure and tell us promptly at support@triviabot.tv if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Each organisation has one owner, and only the owner can change the subscription or billing details. Ownership is tied to the email address that created the organisation and cannot currently be transferred between accounts, so please sign up with the address you intend to keep using.

Notices go to that address. Anything we need to tell you — a change to these terms, a failed payment, a service interruption — is sent to the email address on your account. Please keep it current and able to receive mail from us. We are not responsible for a notice you did not receive because the address had stopped working.

3. Subscription and billing

• TriviaBot is priced per location, not per screen. Each location may pair up to five screens at no extra charge.
• The published rate is $29 per month for your first location and $19 per month for each additional location. Larger groups are billed on a volume rate shown in your portal before you subscribe.
• Your billed quantity is derived automatically from the number of locations on your account. Adding a location increases your subscription; removing one decreases it. Changes are prorated by our payment processor.
• Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Prices are in US dollars and exclusive of any sales tax, VAT or similar, which will be added where required.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number.

We may change prices. Existing subscribers will be given at least 30 days' notice by email before a change takes effect, and may cancel before then.

4. Free trial and demo

New accounts may start a 14-day free trial. A payment method is required to begin it, and unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts automatically and the first payment is taken.

A newly paired screen may also receive a short free demo window so you can see the product running before subscribing. The demo is offered once per organisation and stops automatically when it expires.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from the billing section of your portal. No notice period, no cancellation fee, no phone call.

When you cancel, your subscription continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. Your screens stop showing trivia at that point.

Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable consumer law that cannot be waived by agreement. If we have billed you in error, tell us at support@triviabot.tv and we will correct it.

6. Your content

"Your content" means anything you upload or write: your venue name and logo, promotional slides, sleep-screen artwork, podium wording, and any house questions you author.

• You keep ownership of it. You grant us only the licence we need to store it and display it on your screens and your guests' phones, for as long as you are a customer.
• You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, including any logos, images, trademarks or sponsor artwork belonging to somebody else.
• House questions you author play only on your own screens. They are not added to the shared question bank and are not shown to other venues.
• You are responsible for your content being lawful and appropriate for the audience in your venue.

Promotional slides may advertise your own business or a third party's, at your discretion. If you sell that slot to a sponsor, that arrangement is between you and them; we are not a party to it and take no share of it.

7. Our question bank

The trivia questions, categories, themes and artwork we supply remain ours. While you are a subscriber you may display them in your venue on your paired screens and on participating guests' phones. You may not copy, export, scrape, republish, resell or use the question bank for any other purpose.

We write and curate questions carefully, but we do not warrant that every one is free of error. If you spot a wrong or unsuitable question, tell us and we will review it.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• share access outside the locations on your subscription, or run TriviaBot at a location you have not paid for;
• work around the screen limit, entitlement checks, or billing in any way, including by repeatedly re-pairing devices to obtain free demo windows;
• resell, sublicense or white-label the service without our written agreement;
• upload unlawful, infringing, hateful or obscene content;
• interfere with the service, attempt to access other venues' data, or probe our systems without permission.

9. Your guests

Guests play anonymously. They choose a display name and are not asked to create an account, install an app, or provide an email address. We do not market to them.

Display names are chosen by guests and shown on your screen. We filter obvious profanity, but you are responsible for what happens in your venue and you can remove a player from the game at any time from your portal.

10. Availability

We aim to keep TriviaBot running continuously, but we do not currently offer a contractual uptime guarantee or service credits. The service depends on your own internet connection, your screens, and third parties such as our hosting and payment providers.

We may take the service down for maintenance or ship changes to how it works. Where planned downtime is likely to be noticeable, we will try to give notice by email.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that does not pay, breaches these terms, or is being used in a way that harms other customers or our systems. Where the circumstances allow it, we will contact you first and give you a chance to put it right.

You may close your account at any time. On closure we delete or anonymise your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. We are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost custom, or indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use TriviaBot after that means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, and the courts of King County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief where needed. If you contract with us as a consumer in the UK or EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory local protections.
